Searching for an external hard drive designed for maximum performance? Look no further than the G-Drive mini from G-technology. With up to 1TB of storage and 16MB caching, the ruggedly designed G-Drive mini is an ultra-portable and compact device that packs a lot of punch!

As opposed to many of the external hard drives on the market, the G-Drive mini features an entirely aluminum shell. When combined with its perforated front grill and an integrated heat sink, the G-Drive mini has the look and feel of an Apple product; fittingly, the hard drive comes formatted for Macs right out of the box and integrates seamlessly with Time-Machine backup! Brilliantly designed for high performance use, the G-Drive mini is rated for Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, but is compatible with legacy Mac OS 9.2 or any Mac OS X device, and also Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows Vista.
Perfect for photographers who need to store all their photos, video professionals who need to transfer their footage, or the everyday person who needs a place to keep all their music, the G-Drive mini is designed for a variety of uses. Whether you’re a traveler who needs your storage on the go, or a film buff who needs a place to keep all those downloaded movies, the 1TB version can hold up to 140 DivX movies, 25,000 songs, and 34,000 photos!
Weighing in at just under 9 oz, the G-Drive gets its speed from its use of the USB 3.0 protocol and FireWire 800. USB 3.0 technology works on the SuperSpeed interface, offering realistic transfer rates of approximately 3,200 Mbits per second and bi-directional data transfer, meaning it can read and write data at the same time at full speed. In other words, a 10 Gigabyte file that would take 5 minutes to transfer over USB 2.0 will take about 25 seconds over USB 3.0. In plain English, the G-Drive mini is super fast! If your laptop or PC is not yet compatible with USB 3.0, however, rest assured: the G-Drive mini is also compatible with USB 2.0 and FireWire 400.
While most 2.5 inch external hard drives run at only 5,400rpm or slower, the G-Drive mini spins at an incredible 7,200rpm. The G-Drive mini runs fanless, thanks to the perforated front grill that enhances airflow and the aluminum shell that also functions as a heat sink, dissipating heat to protect the integrity of your files, resulting in ultra-quiet operation.
The G-Drive mini comes with all the cables required, including a USB 3.0 cable (also compatible with USB 2.0), FireWire cables (FW 800, FW 800 to 400) and a black protective carrying case. With a 3-year manufacturer warrant, the G-Drive mini from G-Tech will be available on Quantum Wireless in the coming weeks!
